How many daily maneuvers do we expect our bodies to perform for us? How many blinks in an eye, how many bends in a knee? Our human bodies are complex machines worthy of tender care and that care is often referred to as “body work”. From massage with its many sub-categories and specialties to the Asian traditions of Jin Shin Do and Shiatsu, these are treatments that go beyond mechanics. Finding the optimum modality and practitioner is highly personal but if you’re ready to try it, chances are it’s available in Santa Fe.

Eating out in Santa Fe can be expensive, but you don’t have to break the bank to have a special lunch. Sure, we have our share of the usual fast food places. A few of the chains—say, Bumblebee’s and Bert’s Burger Bowl—serve good food at reasonable prices. But here in Santa Fe, local is the way to go. Whether you’re exploring the downtown Plaza area, are out and about, or heading out of town on a day trip, you’ll find some wonderful restaurants that feature a variety of entrées under $10.

It’s not hard to stay fit in Santa Fe (despite all the good food!). Our glorious terrain and weather make the City Different a mecca for hikers, bikers, skiers, and rafters. But you don’t have to be the outdoorsy type to get or stay in shape—Santa Fe offers a wide array of gyms and fitness studios for every budget and in locations all over town. Whether you’re looking for fitness classes, serious weight training, or a full-service gym with pools and steams rooms, you’ll find it in Santa Fe.

Gosh, kids, it seems I’m not the only one in town who enjoys a night out but doesn’t want to empty my wallet. So let’s explore more ways to eat out in Santa Fe while spending less than $15 on food. This time, let’s try one of my favorite tricks, developed during my starving artist years in New York City: I call it “Drinks and Apps.” Many of Santa Fe’s fine restaurants have separate bar menus that offer lovely selections at a fraction of the prices in the main dining room.
