Mountain Snowshoeing
The Williams Lake trail has ample parking, is easy to locate, and starts behind the Bavarian Inn near the Taos ski area. The trail is well used that travels, more or less, in a direct line to Williams Lake. In the winter time you will occasionally see cross country ski tracks going off the trail but the trail itself is well packed by snowshoers and hikers. One way will take about one and a half to two hours with approximately 800 feet of elevation gain starting at about 10,200 feet. A Need to do Very Many Things
Honored May 2006 as a Santa Fe Living Treausure
Passed away, January 9, 2010
In 1967, just 10 years after her graduation from the University of New Mexico with a degree in political science, Maralyn Budke became chief of staff for the state's governor, David Cargo. It was a remarkable job at a remarkably young age--and was just the first of dozens of similar distinctions to come in her remarkable life.
From the governor's office she moved to the state's important Legislative Finance Committee, which she directed for the next 14 years, training three of her successors in the process. Then in 1982, at the surprisingly young age of 46, she retired. With family wealth supporting her, she just felt a strong need to do many more things.

Feb 1, 2010
"Red or green?" may be New Mexico's official state question, but diners will be facing many more delectable choices when the state's first Restaurant Week promotion debuts in Santa Fe (February 28th to March 6th) and Albuquerque (March 7th to 13th). It's a one-of-a-kind opportunity to experience extraordinary menus from the area's finest restaurants - and enjoy fantastic lodging packages - at very attractive prices.
To date, close to 70 restaurants and hotels are participating in both cities. Restaurants are featuring three-course, prix-fixe dinner menus for $25 per person, $25 for two, or, at a few restaurants, $40 per person. Several more participants are expected to sign on in the next few weeks.
