Santa Fe Community College and The League of Women Voters of Santa Fe County will sponsor SFCC Governing Board candidate forums on campus. The first session, for the candidates for Position 3, will be held Thursday, February 21. The second, for Position 5, will take place Monday, February 25. Both forums begin at 5:30 and are held on campus in the Jemez Rooms.

The SFCC Board election is Tuesday, March 5 and polls are open from 7 a.m to 7 p.m. Early and absentee voting is underway at the County Elections Bureau, 102 Grant Ave.

The forums will follow LWVSFC protocol, in which a moderator from the organization asks the candidates questions that have been submitted by the audience. Each candidate answers the same question, and a time limit ensures fairness while also helping keep the forum within the two hour allotted period. The forums are free and open to the public.

Twelve candidates are vying for two open positions on the SFCC Board:

Position 3 candidates include Paul Duran, Stephen Hochberg, Bruce J. MacAllister, Martha Gandert Romero, Andres C. Salazar, Frank G. Pearce and Kim R. Martinez.

Position 5 candidates include Kathleen D. Keith, Thomas Dan Whitson, Bonn J. Macy, Francis (Frank) Renz and Jeffrey J. Case.

Board positions are at-large and run for six-year terms. The next Bbard meeting is Tuesday, February 26.
