Ever since the Paolo Soleri Amphitheater closed its doors for good after the 2008 summer season, Santa Fe has gone from the center of the New Mexico summer concert scene to nothing overnight. This summer we aim to change that.
New Mexico's two premier non-profit producers of poplular music and events, Santa Fe's Heath Concerts and Albuquerque's AMP Concerts have come together to return big summer concerts to the Capitol City.
The Downs of Santa Fe is the old horse racing track off I25 just south of Santa Fe. In its day it hosted legendary concerts like the Grateful Dead, Santana, Allman Brothers and more but had fallen into disuse over the past 15 years.
Working with the Pueblo of Pojoaque as owners of the Downs of Santa Fe, Heath and AMP have reached an agreement to produce 4 - 6 concerts a year on the green grass of the infiled of the downs starting in 2014.
The infield has been maintained for soccer fields for the last several years and is, today, a lush, festive concert environment with a food court featuring a variety of food trucks and beverage service including beer and wine for our 21+ patrons. All this with plenty of space for fans to spread out on the grass and enjoy music under the Santa Fe stars.
All Downs concers will be family friendly, featuring affordable kids tickets to allow families to come and enjoy the music together. Our standard event capacity will be approximately 3000 but with almost 30 acres we can and will get bigger events as we go forward.
It is our goal to grow this venue as part of both the City and County's initiavtive to grow the event based economy in Santa Fe for locals and tourists alike. To bring summer concerts back to Santa Fe, as it was back in the day when Paolo Soleri was king of the of the summer music scene and the music world came to Santa Fe for outdoor concerts. The time has come to make that happen again.
