A a community celebration uniting music lovers across the globe
From a Santa Fe Music Alliance press release...
It’s the note heard ‘round the world: Once again this year, the city of Santa Fe will participate in the global Make Music event, a community celebration uniting music lovers across the globe. Following on the success of last year’s Make Music Santa Fe event at the Railyard, the Santa Fe Music Alliance (SFMA) is pleased to announce that it will hold this year’s free event, Make Music Manana, on June 22nd, in the same location.
The Santa Fe Music Alliance is a non-profit organization formed to support local musicians and engage the community in all things music-related in the City Different. Picking up on a tradition that started in France, spread across Europe and eventually reached the U.S., Make Music events are held simultaneously in more than 400 cities around the world on the summer solstice. Make Music Santa Fe was a huge success last year —almost 1,000 people attended and the event drew both locals and tourists alike.
In keeping with Santa Fe’s nickname, the City Different, this year our event will occur a day after Make Music events elsewhere. By holding our version of Make Music a day later, we’ll avoid conflicting with the Bandstand live performance series on the plaza.
This year’s concert will showcase some of Santa Fe’s finest talent, including Boomroots Collective, As in We, Time out for Brubeck, the Milltones and Dadou and Hillary. Mayor David Coss will speak at the event.
The full schedule:
- 4:30 Dadou & Hilary
- 5:15 Miltones
- 6:05 Time Out for Brubeck
- 7:00 As In We
- 8:05 Boomroots Collective
- Eric George and Jono Manson will perform short sets between the main acts.
- Mayor David Coss will speak at the event.
This is the first year the newly-formed Santa Fe Music Alliance is producing the event.
The Santa Fe Music Alliance (SFMA) is a non-profit organization of musicians, music industry professionals, and music advocates. SFMA is dedicated to fostering creativity and community by supporting a sustainable and vital environment for music of all genres in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
