Former Dominican friar, set to take over Jan. 4, predicts giving will continue amid economic woes
The Santa Fe Community Foundation has chosen a former Dominican friar with many years of experience working for charitable foundations as its new president and chief executive officer.
Brian Byrnes, currently the executive director of the Chez Panisse Foundation, founded by chef Alice Waters, will replace Billie Blair, who announced her resignation as president in July.
As president and CEO of the Vermont Community Foundation from 2003 to 2008, Byrnes grew assets from $70 million to close to $170 million in five years, tripling grantmaking.
Can he do that in Santa Fe given the state of the economy? What is the secret?
