This year’s Royalty Competition for the 2015 Rodeo de Santa Fe & Santa Fe County Fair queen and princess will be held on Sunday, May 18, 2014. From 1:00-2:30 pm the fashion modeling, public speaking and media interview portion of the contest will be held in the Exhibit Hall at the Santa Fe County Fairgrounds. At 2:30 the horsemanship portion will be held at the Rodeo de Santa Fe arena at 3237 Rodeo Road, Santa Fe, NM. Spectators are welcome.
Applications are available at www.rodeodesantafe.com. Young woman between the ages of 13 and 17 may apply for Princess. Queen applicants are between the ages of 18-25. All candidates must live within a 50 mile radius of Santa Fe County. Deadline for applications is May 10 at 5:00 pm. Contestants will be judged on knowledge of PRCA rodeo, animal welfare, horsemanship, outgoingness and public speaking. The Queen will receive a $1,000 scholarship or a custom saddle, custom made crown, buckle and sash. The Princess receives a custom made crown, buckle and sash. The 2014 reigning Rodeo de Santa Fe Queen is Miriah Borrego Gonzales, 21 years old. She is a junior at New Mexico State University pursuing a degree in Elementary and Special Education. The reigning Rodeo de Santa Fe Princess, Shania Borrego, 16 years old is a sophomore at Santa Fe High School.
