November 13 to 15
El Muséo Cultural, 1615 Paseo de Peralta, Santa Fe, 603-0558
Friday, November 13, 5 to 9 pm; Saturday, November 14, 9 pm to 5 pm; Sunday, November 15, 10 am to 5 pm.
For eleven years now, Santa Fe’s trashiest artists and fashionistas have been treating those in the know to fantastic recycled art. This autumn, Recycle Santa Fe Art Festival calls El Muséo Cultural home for the weekend of November 13 through 15. One of the festival’s most enjoyable events is the now-famous Trash Fashion & Costume Contest, taking place on Friday evening at 7:00. Seating is limited, so get there early; this is an uber-popular affair, well worth the $5 admission fee. ($10 gets you into both the art exhibition and the fashion show; admission is free on Saturday and Sunday.) And if the spirit moves, it’s not too late to go to www.recyclesantafe.org and enter the contest; applications will be taken through November 9. You just might be the next winning Project Runway Rubbish contestant (watch for it, Tim Gunn). Also on Friday evening, the results from the Juried Art and Youth Exhibits will be announced. Throughout Saturday and Sunday, enjoy music, food (fresh, not reused) for sale, and activities for kids to make their own recycled art. It’s a great opportunity for the litter-ally minded and just plain scrap-py among us to buy our holiday gifts early. Bust out that waste-basket skirt and tea-bag hat, and head on down to one of Santa Fe’s beloved art and style institutions.
