2010 Events Schedule for El Rancho De Las Golondrinas, Santa Fe's Living History Museum

The 2010 schedule kicks off on May 1st and runs through October 3rd.


May 14-15, 10 am - 4 pm
"Battlefield New Mexico: The Civil War and More"

Experience the drama of the Civil War first-hand! Held in partnership with the New Mexico Civil War Congress, this event features dozens of re-enactors who bring to life the battles of Glorieta Pass and Apache Canyon fought near Santa Fe during the War Between the States. Military drills, skirmishes and cannon fire will highlight two action-filled days. Visit Confederate, Union and civilian camps where costumed re-enactors will tell you about their lives in frontier New Mexico in 1862.
Admission: Adults $8, Seniors and teens $5, Children 5-12 $3.


June 4 and 5, 10 am - 4 pm
"Spring Festival and Children's Fair"

Bring the family to learn about New Mexico's history the fun way! Costumed villagers will bring this Spanish colonial ranch to life -- shearing sheep, blacksmithing, baking bread and much more. Lots of animals, games and hands-on activities for kids.
Admission: Adults $8, Seniors and teens $5, Children 5-12 $3.


June 25 and 26, 10 am - 4 pm
Fiber Arts Festival:  From Sheep to Blanket

From fuzzy sheep to fancy embroidered blankets, learn how textiles are made! Buy fiber arts, have your textiles evaluated, enjoy exhibits on weaving and learn about the whole process - from shearing sheep to doing colcha embroidery - from experts.
Admission: Adults $6, Seniors and teens $4, Children 5-12 $2.


July 2-3, 12 - 6 pm
"Santa Fe Wine Festival"

Discover the delicious blends of more than a dozen New Mexico vintners; taste all that you want, and then buy your favorites directly from the makers. All this in a festive atmosphere with live music, food and traditional agricultural products and handmade arts and crafts for sale. Museum exhibits will also be open.
Adults 21+ $13 (includes festival wine glass), Youth 13-20 $5.


July 16-17, 10 am - 5 pm
"¡Viva México! Celebration"

Enjoy música, arte and más at this celebration of the culture, cuisine and crafts of our colorful neighbor! Mariachi music, fashion shows, artisan demonstrations, tasty food and much more. Featuring the amazing Voladores (flying men) of Veracruz! Presented in partnership with the Mexican Consulate of Albuquerque and the Mexican Tourism Board. Admission:

August 6-7, 10 am - 4 pm
"Summer Festival, Frontier Days and Horses of the West"

Meet the colorful characters who put the "wild" in "wild west!" Mountain men and women will spin tales of the past, sell unique wares and demonstrate their skills at encampments throughout the ranch. Flint knapping, panning for gold, hide tanning, bow making and more. Also enjoy Peruvian Paso Horse demonstrations both days.

August 13-14, 10 am - 4 pm
"Survival New Mexico"

Could you survive life in Colonial and Territorial New Mexico? Stop by this weekend to practice outdoor survival techniques including creating fire, building shelters, using an atatl, making adobe and much more..

September 3-4, 10 am - 4 pm
"Fiesta de los Niños: A Children's Celebration"

Ven a jugar con nosotros! Come out and play with us! Your children will have fun learning about history as they try on historic costumes of the Spanish settlers and build their very own miniature adobe house. Storytellers and costumed villagers - not to mention burros, goats and sheep - will bring this Spanish colonial ranch to life and inspire young minds; magicians and miniature horses will delight and entertain them.

September 17-18, 10 am - 6 pm
"Santa Fe Renaissance Fair"

October 1-2, 10 am - 4 pm
"Harvest Festival"

Bring in the harvest with the villagers of El Rancho de las Golondrinas, crushing grapes for wine by foot; grinding sorghum with burros, stringing colorful chile ristras, and much, much more. Enjoy bizcochitos fresh from the horno and tortillas hot off the comal. You may also participate in an outdoor Mass and procession for San Isidro, led by the Archbishop of Santa Fe, enjoy music and dancing on our entertainment platform and buy arts and crafts directly from the artisans. You will never look at history the same way again!

Directions to Las Golondrinas

Las Golondrinas is 15 minutes south of the Santa Fe Plaza and 45 minutes north of Albuquerque, at 334 Los Pinos Rd. Take Exit 276 off I-25 and follow "Las Golondrinas" signs.

From Santa Fe via I-25:
Take I-25 south andexit on 276. Head north on the 599 Bypass.
Get into the left lane right away and take a left on West Frontage Rd.
Go about 1/2 mile, and take a right on Los Pinos Rd.
Travel 3.2 miles on Los Pinos Rd.
From Santa Fe via 599:
Go south on 599.
Right before you get to where it intersects with 1-25, go right on West Frontage Rd.
Go about 1/2 mile, and take a right on Los Pinos Rd.
Travel 3.2 miles on Los Pinos Rd.
From Albuquerque:
Take I-25 north and exit on 276. G left and head north on the 599 Bypass.
Get into the left lane right away and take a left on West Frontage Rd.
Go about 1/2 mile, and take a right on Los Pinos Rd.
Travel 3.2 miles on Los Pinos Rd.

El Rancho de las Golondrinas se encuentra a 15 minutos del Sur de la Plaza de la ciudad de Santa Fe, y a 45 minutos al Norte de Santa Fe, en la 344 Los Pinos Rd. Siguiendo las señalizaciones de "Las Golondrinas".

Desde Santa por la Interestatal 25 (I-25)
Tomar la I-25 hacia el sur y tomar la Salida 276. Ir rumbo hacia el norte sobre la lateral (Bypass) 599. Tomar el carril izquierdo de inmediato, y doblar a la izquierda sobre W. Frontage Rd. Después de ½ milla, dar vuelta a la derecha en Los Pinos Rd. Continuar en ese mismo camino a lo largo de 3.2 millas sobre Los Pinos Rd.

Desde Santa Fe vía 599
Tomar la carretera 599 hacia el Sur. Justo antes de llegar a la intersección con la I-25, dar vuelta a la derecha en W. Frontage Rd. Continuar por ½ milla, y dar la vuelta a la derecha sobre Los Pinos Rd. Continuar por 3.2 millas más sobre Los Pinos Rd.

Desde Albuquerque
Tomar la I-25 hacia el norte y tomar la Salida 276. Dar vuelta a la izquierda y ir rumbo hacia el norte sobre la lateral (Bypass) 599.
