From a Santa Fe County DWI Program media release

The Santa Fe County DWI Program announced that its $1 cab ride home program, which is typically available on Fridays and Saturdays, will be extended to include Thursday, July 4. Bar patrons and revelers at holiday parties can take the cab home Thursday evening and regular service will be available on Friday and Saturday night.

People leaving bars or parties pay $1 each for a ride home up to the $25 fare, anything over $25 is the responsibility of the rider. The service can be reached at (505) 438-0000.

In 2007, the inaugural year, the CADDy Program provided 4,563 rides. In 2012 people took 15,213 cab rides home from the bar. Cab rides are subsidized by the Santa Fe County DWI Program up to $25.

"Drunk driving is preventable and taking a cab home is a very easy and cheap way to do your part," said program coordinator Lupe Sanchez. "I wish everyone a happy Independence Day and a safe cab ride home."
