The 24th Annual Winter Spanish Market will be held November 30 and December 1 & 2, 2012 at the Santa Fe Convention Center at 201 West Marcy Avenue in Santa Fe.
Winter Spanish Market is an outgrowth of the famous Traditional Spanish Market, the oldest and largest Spanish market in the U.S. that is held each summer on and around the Santa Fe Plaza. The Winter Market will showcase the work of some 100 New Mexico Hispanic artists. Many of the unique, handmade art pieces will have a holiday theme and are perfect for the home or as gifts.
Winter Market Week will begin with a Luncheon with the Artists at noon on Wednesday, Nov. 28 at the Hotel St. Francis. Thee event pairs guests with a Spanish Market artist over lunch for the chance to meet and learn more about the artist and their work. This is a special way of getting acquainted with the artists. WinterNite Party, held Friday, November 30 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Santa Fe Convention Center, offers the first opportunity to see and purchase that very special art piece, as market artists will exhibit and sell at this evening event, which will also feature music and food. Tickets are $25 for Spanish Colonial Arts Society members and $40 for non-members. Call (505) 982-2226 x 103 for tickets or tickets may be purchased at the door.
The Winter Market will open officially at 9 a.m. on Saturday morning and remain open until 5 p.m. at the Santa Fe Convention Center. Join in the festivities and kick off the holiday season. Walter Burke Catering will have food for purchase in the lobby and there will be music throughout the day. Winter Market admission is free.
Sunday morning, all artists and guests are invited to a special Market Mass at The Cathedral Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi at 8 a.m. for a blessing of the artists and the Market.
Immediately after the Mass, at 9:30 a.m., the doors will open and the market will continue at the Convention Center until 4 p.m. , with food by Walter Burke Catering and live music.
