Marimbas will be everywhere June 6 through 9, when nine of the finest marimba virtuosos in the world descend on Santa Fe for the first Santa Fe Marimba Festival. This four-day celebration will feature concerts at The Lensic Performing Arts Center and the St. Francis Auditorium. The international line-up includes marimbists from Japan, Croatia, Belgium, Taiwan and the U.S. performing marimba music from around the globe.

Special guest artist and Latin jazz extraordinaire Victor Mendoza will bring his unique sound to Santa Fe for an exclusive night at The Lensic, Friday June 8 at 8 p.m., joined by the Bert Dalton Trio and guest percussionist Dane Richeson.

Local Zimbabwean marimba bands will be featured along with local Mexican and Guatemalan marimba music. Workshops for students and educators will also be held during the festival at the New Mexico School for the Arts. Free events for the community include a kid’s and family workshop on Saturday, June 9 at 9 a.m., and a concert at the St. Francis Auditorium on June 9 at 12:30 p.m. There will also be marimba buskers on the streets and at the Gazebo on the Plaza.
