State Parks officials announced that Fenton Lake and Hyde Memorial State Parks re-opened effective 8:00 a.m., Friday, July 12, 2013, and Morphy Lake State Park will re-open effective 8:00 a.m., Saturday, July 13, 2013. These parks will be open for day use and camping activities; however, fire restrictions will remain in effect in these parks.

The Santa Fe National Forest announced the re-opening of forest lands adjacent to Fenton Lake and Hyde Memorial State Parks effective Friday, July 12, 2013, prompting their re-opening.  Also, the County of Mora announced the rescission of the ban on open fires affecting Morphy Lake State Park.

“Recent rains, the reopening of the Santa Fe National Forest, and the relaxing of fire restrictions has allowed us to open the gates at three of New Mexico’s premiere state parks,” said State Parks Director Tommy Mutz. “I invite our citizens to come out and enjoy these three outstanding recreation destinations.”

Park visitors are reminded that fire restrictions remain in effect in many of New Mexico’s state parks. For more information call 888-NMPARKS or visit www.nmparks.com.
