Creative Santa Fe (CrSF) announced today the second annual FANTASE, a major public collaborative community event on May 9, 2014 from 6pm to 11pm. FANTASE Dome Fest is a free multimedia interactive light festival featuring four geodesic domes, art projections, bands, and a beer garden hosted by Cowgirl BBQ.

Central to Creative Santa Fe’s mission is bringing the community together to create projects that reflect a shared vision for Santa Fe. With over 100 community partners in 2013, the FANTASE DOME FEST promises to be a major display of shared commitment to the arts and to city vibrancy.

"I am thrilled that Creative Santa Fe is hosting another FANTASE Fest,” said CrSF Executive Director Cyndi Conn. “Building on the success of last year’s event, The FANTASE Dome Fest will transform downtown Santa Fe into an extravaganza of light, art, music, and vitality – highlighting Santa Fe’s extraordinary cultural and creative assets.”

In order to remain a key cultural destination, Santa Fe must bring more international visitors, conferences, and investors to our community. Santa Fe competes with world-class destinations and must continue to build on its assets to remain an attractive destination for young visitors. This event supports that need by continuing to build FANTASE into a globally renowned festival that energizes the city with bold, exciting new art, design, and technology.

In collaboration with New Mexico Arts again this year, CrSF released a call for proposals for local artists or artist teams for site-specific temporary light-based art projects for this one-day event. This call for proposals is the first step to introduce the concept of a major winter light festival in Santa Fe envisioned as a city-wide annual collaborative event.

Participating partners at the date of this press release include: Bike to Work Week, City of Santa Fe, Convergence Project at Story of Place Institute, Cowgirl BBQ, CVB, IAIA, Initiate Skate, Lumenscapes Illumination Media, Metropolitan Planning Organization, New Mexico Department of Transportation, New Mexico Department of Tourism, Only Green Design , Santa Fe County , Santa Fe Railyard Community Corporation, Santa Fe University of Art and Design’s Outdoor Vision Fest, UNM ARTS Lab.
