From a City of Santa Fe press release...

The annual Christmas Eve Farolito Walk on Canyon Road is just days away, and City Police and Fire Department personnel are ready. Canyon Road and some surrounding streets will be accessible until 5:30 p.m. at which time barricades are placed and police officers will allow limited access to residents and guests only until 6 p.m. After this time there will be absolutely no vehicles permitted, except emergency vehicles. No passes will be issued to residents—they are urged to have party guests arrive before 6 p.m. Hundreds of pedestrians view the beautiful farolitos, and every precaution is taken to ensure everyone’s safety.

The streets that are closed are: Paseo de Peralta at Halona; Paseo de Peralta at E. Alameda; Paseo de Peralta at Old Santa Fe Trail; Canyon Road; Acequia Madre at Garcia; Acequia Madre at Camino del Monte Sol; Canyon Road at Palace Avenue and Delgado at Alameda. The streets will re-open between 9 p.m. and 10 p.m. depending upon how large a crowd remains after the walk officially ends at 9 p.m.

Enjoy a stress-free walk and ride the bus. The annual Santa Fe Trails special-event shuttles will take Canyon Road walkers from the South Capitol Station off of Pen Road to the PERA building beginning at 5:30 p.m. Buses will run approximately every 15 minutes with the last bus leaving PERA at 10 p.m. People who live on the south side of Santa Fe can park at Santa Fe Place south of JC Penney and take the Route 2 bus. Fares are $2 round-trip, children and youth ride free and seniors ride for $1 round-trip.
