From a City of Santa Fe news release.

The Living Wage for the City of Santa Fe will be adjusted to $10.29 per hour, effective March 1, 2012.

This increase is in accordance with City Ordinance and corresponds to the increase in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for the Western Region for Urban Wage Earners and Clerical Workers for 2010 and 2011. All employers within the city of Santa Fe (which includes areas scheduled for annexation) are required to pay all workers the Living Wage.

    LIVING WAGE KEY FACTS:

    • Living Wage for 2012:                      $10.29
    • Date Effective:                                   March 1, 2012
    • Who earns the Living Wage:            All workers in the City of Santa Fe

Originally, the Living Wage Ordinance included a provision to increase the wage to $10.50 in 2008. Instead, the community came together in 2007 for a compromise, which was endorsed by labor groups and the business community, and replaced the planned increase of $10.50 with an annual cost-of-living adjustment.
