"Jumpin' music. Slick deejays. Fog machines and laser rays. Look out weekend 'cause here I come. Because weekends were made for fun."

Eighties Miami freestyle chanteuse Debbie Deb may have summed up the thrill of the weekend better than anyone in popular song with her 1984 hit "Lookout Weekend." (Disagree? Post your favorite weekend song in the comments below.)

But while for some, the perfect weekend entails breakdancing, "fog machines" and "slick deejays," many Santa Feans will enjoy their downtime is a less ostentatious manner. This weekend in The City Different is highlighted by a number of special events, ranging from nighttime student-produced light extravaganzas and youth art performances to screenings of antique cowboy films and a solar fiesta. Say word.

Enjoy Debbie Deb's magnum opus and check out our weekend calendar highlights. As always, if you don't see your event listed, please submit it.
