Blue Corn Brewery welcomes newest addition to their team, Head Brewer James Warren. He joins one of the original breweries in New Mexico that began pioneering the way for great craft beer over 15 years ago. James Warren is originally from Texas, but grew up to love the Southwest during family vacations. He earned a degree in the Fine Arts from Baylor University, and has shown his photographs and textile design work in numerous shows over the past 10 years. But it was while working towards a career in art education and living in Connecticut that James first discovered his passion for brewing. It took only one visit to a local brewery for James to realize that brewing covered almost every aspect of his interests: art, science and cooking.
Eager to learn more, James started volunteering at local brew houses that needed extra help. He began his formal brewing career as an assistant brewer for a New Haven based brewpub. Shortly after, he was hired as brewer for the New England Brewing Company in Woodbridge, CT. It was at this highly acclaimed brewery, and under the watchful eye of many wonderful mentors, that James learned delicate art of balancing ingredients while staying on top of an ever changing industry and an increasingly educated consumer base. During his time at NEBCO he attended the American Brewers Guild and earned his diploma in Brewing Science and Engineering. At Blue Corn Brewery he hopes to spread his enthusiasm for the craft beer industry through customer education and creating a variety of styles to showcase the expansive range of profiles that brewing has to offer.
With his wealth of experience and approachable style, James is “excited to bring some new energy and passion to the Blue Corn Brewery, emphasizing the fantastic beers that are brewed in-house and highlighting seasonal products.” James looks forward to applying his years of experience and formal education at Blue Corn Brewery as well as diving into the cultural scene that Santa Fe has to offer.
Blue Corn Brewery will host his first beer release social the evening of May 1, 2014. For more information and/or reservations please call 505-438-1800.
