From Big Brothers Big Sisters New Release
For more than 40 years, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central New Mexico has been matching New Mexico youth with adult mentors. Every day we hear stories from former mentees, “Littles,” and mentors, “Bigs,” about the impact one-on-one mentoring made in their lives. Several former “Littles” tell us how their life was transformed because of the time that their “Big” spent with them.
Until recently, Big Brothers Big Sisters did not have the technology needed to keep connected with the “Littles” and “Bigs” that leave our program. That is why we are launching the Alumni Reconnection campaign. We are asking former “Littles,” Bigs” and their families to share their stories and contact information with us. We want to know how Big Brothers Big Sisters has made an impact in their lives and how we can contact them to share how we are still transforming lives in New Mexico. Through the campaign, we will also be reuniting Bigs and Littles who have lost touch and express an interest in come together.
They can share their stories at www.bbbs-cnm.org.
“I reconnected with my Little Sister today after nearly 30 years,” said Joanie Griffin, board member of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central New Mexico. “We lost touch when I moved to New Mexico in 1983. Back then, there was no Internet, no cell phones, no Facebook. Our goal is to help other people reconnect and reunite.”
