In just three years, the Santa Fe Concorso—a boutique classic car event held at The Club at Las Campanas—has become a signature event, a favorite with classic car owners and a significant contributor to children’s charities in northern New Mexico. This year’s Concorso will be held September 27-29. But putting the show on every year involves an investment of thousands of hours by the board of directors, committee members and volunteers.

The board that provides leadership is first and foremost made up of people who are passionate about all things that have wheels and engines, including cars, motorcycles, bicycles and airplanes. But dig a little deeper and you quickly realize that is where the similarities end. The board is an eclectic mix of career and personal backgrounds including an architect, symphony flutist, car designer, an entrepreneur/inventor, automotive journalist, the manager of Ralph Lauren’s personal car collection and a veteran of automotive communications, to name just a few.

Gathering a fresh set of vehicles that will be on display each year is critical to the success of the show. Being a boutique event, the Santa Fe Concorso focuses on vintage collector cars—rolling works of art. Some owners self-nominate their vehicles, while others come to the attention of the board through other car shows and networking with other car lovers. The Concorso also reaches out to car museums and premier car collections like the Petersen Museum in Los Angeles, the Ralph Lauren Collection in New York and Miles Collier Collection based in Naples, Florida.

About 2,000 people attended last year’s event and enjoyed viewing more than 100 very special vehicles. Attendance from both New Mexico and across the U.S. has increased significantly and word of the event is beginning to spread internationally.

Individuals interested in being part of the Concorso and volunteering their time can email the Concorso organizers at info@santafeconcorso.com. Tickets for the Concorso events will be available in the spring/summer of 2013. Check the Concorso website at santafeconcorso.com for updates.

The Santa Fe Concorso is a 501(c)(3) non-profit or- ganization benefitting youth organizations of Santa Fe and Santa Fe County, affecting the families of home owners, sellers, and buyers in our real estate community. The Santa Fe Concorso is being profiled as part of the All Things Real Estate “Unique Des- tinations” series.
