2011 Rodeo de Santa Fe photo essay

Cathy Scholl - July 5, 2011

The 2011 Rodeo de Santa Fe featured Rodeo Royalty and top notch competition in events ranging from bullriding to mutton busting but the stars of the show were the men who participated in the Rodeo Clown Reunion. The honorees came from across America. Some were working as far back as the 1940s, originally as cowboys who entertained the audience. Once bull riding was added to the rodeo the clowns also became bull-fighters whose job it was to distract the bull while the cowboy ran to safety. The Santa Fe reunion honored the clowns for their efforts. They participated in skits, autographed posters, posed for photos and brought smiles to all.
