Breaking News from the New Mexico Film Office

Feature Film, As Cool As I Am, to Shoot in New Mexico

Cast will include Claire Danes and James MarsdenEconomic Development Secretary-Designate Jon Barela announced today that Wind Dancer Films will shoot a feature film entitled As Cool As I Am in New Mexico. Production in Albuquerque and Belen will begin May 9, 2011 through June 10, 2011.

The production will employ at least 100 New Mexico crew members and more than 400 principal and background talent.
Cast will include Claire Danes and James Marsden. The film is directed by Max Mayer (Adam) and is written by Virginia Korus Spragg (An Unfinished Life) and Pete Fromm (source material from book: As Cool As I Am).

"New Mexico continues to attract films to the state and that is something my department is very proud of," said Secretary-designate Jon Barela. "The New Mexico Film Office has a dedicated and hardworking staff that is able to showcase all our state has to offer."

"We are pleased that As Cool As I Am selected Albuquerque, New Mexico over other states for its upcoming filming," said Mayor Richard J. Berry. "Albuquerque's film-friendly neighborhoods, ideal weather, close-proximity to LA, as well as the state's competitive film incentives make the city an attractive film destination."

As Cool As I Am tells the story of a sarcastic and intelligent teenage girl who comes of age in a small town with her most absent and very young parents, and deals with the pains of adolescence with her equally wry boyfriend, Kenny.
